![]() I attach here the output of chkdsk, I can't figure how can I solve this problem, understanding if it's an hardware fault, a software fault, or whatever. The problem is that I executed 4 times the command, every time with a different disk disconnected, but every time I have had an error. So, as last temptative, I tried to execute fsck /B /R on my array, using only 3 disks: in this way, I supposed, I would be able to find the faulty disk when the fsck would completed without errors. As result, none of my disks returned errors, all the tests (smart and similar) was successfull. So, hoping to find the fault drive, I have disconnected all my hard disks from the motherboard, and reconnecting one different drive at every reboot I tried to run the western digital software to each drives. I tried to execute it on my space, and it give me an error. used the software from seagate seatool for windows, that insted to show me the single disks it show me the storage array:.Seatools will test your S.M.A.R.T-compliant SSD for proper function. executed fsck /B /R /F on windows, but every time I have had an error Seagate Support Home - Find important support related documentation, Seagate compliance documents, popular downloads, browse our top support articles Products Find product-specific documentation, knowledge base articles, videos and other self-service tools.checked in windows storage, where all disks appear to be ok.My problem is that now, every time I reboot my machine, windows starts the file system check that requires a lot of time. I'm using windows 10 20H2 version, and in my array I have a 2.4TB file system in NTFS. ![]() Note: Seagate Technology is not responsible for lost user data.Hello, I have created a raid 5 array on my PC, using 4 mechanical disks of 1TB each, 2.5" (2 identical seagate and 2 WD). Usually, this action will assist the disc drive firmware in managing the problem by retiring the problem LBA and activating a spare in its place. If you give permission to overwrite a bad sector SeaTools will attempt to write a pattern of zeros to that sector. Similarly, when a disc drive writes data and encounters a problem, the drive firmware retires the problem sector and activates a replacement before giving successful write status. In this situation the actual data bytes in the sector are preserved and transferred to the new spare during a sector reallocation. Usually, sectors become difficult to read long before they become impossible to read. If you have decided that the file or folder is replaceable, already backed up or just not important to you, then you can tell SeaTools to attempt to overwrite the sector.īy design, modern disc drives maintain spare sectors for reallocation purposes. In this case, select NO to exit without trying to reallocate blank replacement sectors on the drive. While the sector is currently unreadable, if the file or folder is important to you then you may need professional recovery services to possibly reclaim the data. ![]() You should carefully consider the importance of your data. When a bad sector happens to align with a folder or directory listing structure, then the links to files and sub-folders it manages may be broken. If a sector is in use, then that file is incomplete or corrupt. When SeaTools discovers a bad sector through reading, at the end of the scan it displays a list of the bad sectors. *** NOTE **** The following information applies only to Seagate Technology, Samsung or Maxtor brand disk drives: If a file or folder uses this sector, then the file is already incomplete or corrupt because the bytes are not readable. Running seatools or seachest on Synology Purchased a refurb seagate exos, I've read I should run seatools on the drive to confirm all things are working as expected.
